About the album
"Expressions" is the second album by the quintet of the jazz violinist Mateusz Smoczyński. After the success of the debut, devoted to John Coltrane and Zbigniew Seifert, the band this time recorded nothing but its own compositions. The material is quite varied — from melodic ballads to free-jazz pieces — yet together it forms a perfectly balanced whole. The recordings were made at Studio Tokarnia with the line-up: Mateusz Smoczyński - violin, Konrad Zemler - guitar, Jan Smoczyński - piano, Wojciech Pulcyn - double bass and Łukasz Żyta - drums.
