Symphonic Syncopations

Symphonic Syncopations is another work in which Mateusz Smoczyński makes no secret of his fascination with the art of the American minimalist John Adams, and with Shaker Loops in particular. The piece makes broad use of repetitive structures, foregrounding rhythm and its transformations in the grooves of marimba and orchestra, while the solo violin converses with them and leaves the performer ample room to improvise.
