Biesy – Smoczyński’s First Symphony

Mateusz Smoczyński has completed his composing project — a first symphony entitled “Biesy” (The Possessed). It is a large-scale work of some forty minutes for full symphony orchestra, inspired by the novel of the same title by Fyodor Dostoevsky.

The symphony is the culmination of the composer’s symphonic work to date. It joins classical form with elements of a jazz idiom and with structures characteristic of minimal music.
